Triple Entry Journal-Annotated Bibliography

This activity is done in class and at home over a number of days at a point in the semester when they are working with secondary sources. It teaches them how to write while reading and ultimately how to construct an argument or discussion from sources. If you have the students do citations for each entry, this activity suffices as an annotated bibliography. In a second step, this activity can lead to practice on building source-based paragraphs.
